The Byker Lion is a series of short stories written by Mark James. James was born in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne, in 1939. He left school barely able to read or write. Aged 48, he attended Heaton Adult Education Centre and was encouraged to develop his unique writing skills and storytelling. The result was a series of short stories about his childhood growing up in Byker.

"Me Bogie", is the second animation in the series, following a young Mark as he creates a go-kart or 'Bogie' from an old pram.

All artwork and characters are based on detailed pencil drawings from Mark James, adapted to the digital medium.

Role: 2D Animation, Design, Storyboarding, Directing, Sound Editing
"Spuggy's Flight" is the third animation in the series, following Mark and his new pal Spuggy, as Spuggy attempts to make his dreams come true.
Mark James has hundreds of drawings that illustrate his stories and I referenced as many of these as possible
while creating these animations. I wanted to make sure the animation was as close as possible to the source material and also I wanted Mark to recognise his own work in my interpretations.
